I'm not sure if someone answered your question about the date of Kurt's death so I will tell you that the date April 8th is when his body was discovered. The corenor concluded that Kurt had been dead since April 5th. So his death is acually the 5th of Arpil 1994.

This is a open letter to the people. I have noticed the downward spiral of music. An increase in pop music ( Britney Spears to Avril Lavinge) that is destroying the "Grunge" sound that seems to be slowly disappearing anyway. I think it's time to expose a new generation to this type of music before it is completly gone. Please, tell and introduce more people to NIRVANA and other bands.
If you can write music and play an instrament, please get involed with a band and try your best to make it big. Not just for the money, not just for the chicks (or guys)but so this dying breed of music can live on to bump the Justin Timberlakes off the charts and retake rock's rightful throne on the top of the charts. Who knows maybe you could be part of the next NIRVANA. You don't have to have a album like NEVERMIND or a single like SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT you just have to make qaulity music like NIRVANA did. So many people, adults mostly, have told me I am absolutely crazy for being a Nirvana fan. They don't understand how I could be so drawn into their music. It's unfair that they find me too young to understand. So what. I'm young. I was 6 when Kurt died. I unfortunately didn't get into their music until 3 years later. But I think no person has any right to tell you what you can and cannot listen to. Just because they went through such bull shit from adults when they were young doesn't mean they should put us through it now.
And I really don't believe Kurt killed himself. Why would he? Because he wanted out of the spot light? True, of course that is very true. But he would more likely leave the band first, or just change the name and not go public. Even in his "suicide note" it didn't even imply suicide until the last 3 lines. And it didn't even look like the rest of the note. It was different. You see, he loved his daughter and Courtney with all of his heart. He found meaning in his life and I don't think he would want to leave the ones he loved. Especially Frances. He loved his daughter so much and wouldn't want to leave her. His birthday in Rome, all he wanted to do was see Courtney and his daughter. Courtney used him to get to the top. She cheated on him. He just didn't realize this, so how could she have even pushed him to suicide? He didn't really care what she could have been doing. He saw none of it. He was madly in love with her. Someone killed him. Courtney may have hired a hit man. I don't know. This will be one of those many unsolved mysteries that will go unsolved maybe forever. Sorry for my rant, that's all I have to say.

My opinion still stands, I beleive that Courtney planned out Kurt's death. Looking back into my photo albums of Kurt- in a majority of all the pictures he is smiling and is a happy go lucky guy, and from talking to people that actually knew him Kurt was a happy guy-not depressed so much to take his own life. My 2 questions still remains-How can one with a high amount of heroin in their system still manage to lift a shotgun and pull the trigger and shoot themselves?, and 2. How can one shoot themselves in the head and then manage to wipe the gun clean of fingerprints???

I believe that the only truly logical answer to cobain's death, is that since Courtney was in a Rehab center in LA because of an overdose,while he was at home, he killed himself thinking that if he was gone, Courtney would have to pull herself togeather and would be the only one left to take care of their daughter. Kurt in a way, saved his daughter and his wife by killing himself. If he was still alive today, I think Courtney would either have died from an overdose because she saw no point in quiting because Kurt was there to take care of their daughter, or she would still be an addict. I don't have to have a friend that knows Kurt or anyone in my family that knows him to prove that I know what Kurt was like. Even if I did know Kurt personally or had a friend that knew him I wouldn't use that as a "rub in the face" to other Kurt fans. Let Kurt be who he is to his fans, I know that is what Kurt would want. I base what Kurt was like when he talked on television-just him not Courtney talking for him, I listen to what Kurt says, watch what he is like-body language, homelife, his style, etc. Yes I see that Kurt was depressed but not so much to want to die!!! And I know Kurt did want to die!!!!!!!!!! I was suicidal since the age of 13, yes I was suicidal, but I did not want to die.
He had alot of crap happen in his life-but who hasn't?! Kurt took alot of crap for so long and held stuff in, he was ready to fight for what he wanted. There is signs that I see(maybe some others don't but oh-well) that Kurt was ready and willing to fight for what he wanted. All throughout his life he did things for other people-hardly for himself, finally when he is on solid ground and on his own 2 feet and makes up his mind for himself what HE wants, his life is taken.
I do beleive now for myself, (and maybe others that Love Kurt the same way as I do), that Kurt is happy now. He is in a better place. Kurt lives on in my heart as well as many others. I don't celebrate his death-I celebrate his life and what he left me and many others-memeories of his music and life. I light my candals on his birthday to celebrate his life!!
And just because I am a Nirvana/Kurt fan, I don't ever put myself before others and say I love him better or I know him way more than you. Everyone loves him for the same similar reasons I do. Anyone that Loves Kurt you are awesome in my book!!!

This will probably be the first and last time I will submit a message. I can say proudly that I along with many others appreciate Kurt's legacy. A lot of people state that they like Nirvana but don't really know much about what Kurt was trying to say. There is a lot of controversy surrounding Kurt's death; I have my own opinions. I think that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. I can safely say that Kurt has been a big influence on my everyday life. I never knew that I could have such a love for someone that I have never met. I can relate to the suffering he was put though by his family, and peers. But the most important thing is not to grieve upon his pain, he made it out. He achieved his dream and I know that somewhere deep inside all that darkness in his heart there was a small candlelight that put that legendary smile on his face. Kurt was beautiful and even though he looked down on himself, he had amazing beauty and talent and I think he knows that now. I know that he appreciates every good word that is said about him and he sends his blessings to the people that have confounded in him through his music. I have never seen so much love for one human being in my lifetime, and that is special. Reading some of these made me want to cry. People believe in him, and I know he respects that. One day we will all meet the man of our dreams, the man that gave us strength, the man that gave us hope, inspiration, and empathy. Empathy was a big issue in Kurt's life; he has given us empathy, as well as we have given it back. Never stop believing in who you are, and who he was. Kurt has given us more then we can be thankful for. Never forget that for some of you Kurt keeps you alive and breathing. I hope that we can only see the truth about what really happened. If we all believe I know he will put in a good word for us. Talk to him even though you think he isn’t listening he is! Life is precious and may-be Kurt’s ended too soon, but he is happy where he is. I often wonder if Frances even knows how legendary her father was and how much he effects everyday. May-be she will never know but eventually I hope she can understand her father as much as we do. THe whole "burn out/fade away" part of the note, has been taken out of context. Think about it like this.. Its better to burn out than to fade away, meaning its better that you get out of the spotlight when you're still selling records, while your still on the top, then to slowly fade into the background and have everyone forget who you are and have your music turn into something they play in the elevators. That is what I think Kurt was saying when he wrote that.

i am a long time Nirvana fan and i think that Nirvana are the best and most infulentual rock band of all time. Kurt Cobain and Nirvana done something no other band has ever done they took rock back to it's roots and blew away all competition on the way even today many years after the band split up there is still not a band that can touch them and there may never be. Nirvana were the saviours of rock and they not only infulenced a generation they infulenced everyone who ever heared their music from musicians to normal people Nirvana got intouch with something that is in us all that is raw emotion. Nirvana and Kurt Cobain in particular touched the hearts of millions and they will surely touch the hearts of millions more. Next time u hear a nirvan song take a moment to pause and salute true brillance.

OK *deep breath* First off Hello to all of you wonderful and dedicated NIRVANA fans, I have read most of all these postings and it touches my heart so much to see that there are people out there who care as much as I do. I do not think Kurt killed himself, I think he was murdered. I will not point any fingers at anyone for his death because I do not know and neither does anyone else, although my toe is REALLY pointed at courtney. Were it not for Frances, God bless her poor soul, I would say to hell with courtney and do her in myself. Just because she is a worthless whore, and treated Kurt like shit. But I would not take all that Frances, however pitiful it may be, has left, away from her. I love Kurt Cobain and his daughter Frances more than anything in this world I could think of. More than my family or friends, and more than myself. To me he is God he is my everything and being that I am a male that might be strange but I dont find it so. Kurt was one of the most talented and beautiful people this world has ever had, and I miss him dearly every day of my life. I am only 16 so I never got to see him, which pains me more than you could possibly know. Just to have seen him one time would be all I could ask for, and more. To all the people out there who are fighting for the case to be reopened KEEP FIGHTING never give up I know I will not. As for Dave and Krist they do their share of the fighting along with Tom Green and the rest of the people involved in the ordeal. There are plenty of ways to help just go to one of the MANY sites that offer different ways to help.
